Our route and stops until 2025. We are mainly travelling by Amtrak train, with some bus journeys to favoured destinations, where the train no longer goes. Our first stop is Richmond Virginia and then we hire a car to visit Bideford’s twin town Manteo, because there is no public transport! We then stay in Colonial Williamsburg, on the James River, the regional hub for the export of North Devon pottery in the 17th Century.
Our route, in blue on the map above, shows our starting point of Richmond Virginia and end point of Tucson Arizona. These are the cities that we flew into and home from. However, our journey from Tucson took us firstly to the West Coast and up as far as Santa Rosa in California before returning back to Tucson.
